Homemade Ways to Clean Vinyl Siding

If your home has vinyl siding, chances are you will at some point deal with light mold and mildew stains. The good news is that you didn't have to spend a lot of cash on harsh chemical cleaners. You likely have all you need to restore the beauty to your siding. Old fashioned dawn dish soap mixed with warm water does well with most stains. Put the mix in a spray bottle and use a soft bristle brush for fast work.

If you have more stubborn stains, mix vinegar and water at around a 30 to 70 ratio in a bucket. Remember to never mix vinegar with any other cleaning product, just water. You can also mix a laundry detergent with water at the same ratio, always more water than cleaning solution. Stubborn mold and baked on dirt can be tackled with Clorox and water. Rinse with a hose to clear off debris before you begin scrubbing and rinse away as you work along.

Remember that beautiful siding adds value to your property and neighborhood. Keep an eye on your siding and take care of trouble spots as the arise. You’ll avoid a big cleaning project down the road and inspire your neighbors to do the same!
